Students are STEAMING ahead

​What exactly is STEAM?  

STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics to guide student inquiry, dialogue and critical thinking around the Coomera Rivers principles of Design-Create-Share. We use the Australian Digital Technologies, Design & Technologies and Visual & Media Arts curriculums to assess and report on student learning. 

This term students are working on the following culminating design challenges:
Prep – Programming a Bee-Bot floor robot using basic algorithms
Year 1 – Building a story animation, using the ScratchJr coding program
Year 2 – Mixed media portrait, combining digital and visual media, and digital photography
Year 3 – 3D printing inventions using the City X design challenge
Year 4 – Code Studio animation 
Year 5 – Creating games with the Scratch programming software and Pixel​ Art
Year 6 – Code Studio animation. Working on engineering with simple and powered machines
