21 students from Year 4 to 6 and another eight teachers completed the first training session for the Kokoda Schools Cup Challenge. The Currumbin border track provided the perfect terrain for our keen students and staff. Students learned to hike the hills, run the flats and jog down the hills. And some of the staff remembered why they stopped doing this a few years ago.
The actual event takes place in June so our students will be more than ready when the time comes. Our teams won’t be selected until after a few training sessions so it will be interesting to see who comes back next fortnight to push themselves further.
A big thanks to our staff for giving up their Saturday morning to provide this wonderful opportunity for our students and also to parents for getting up before sunrise to drive children to our training. There’s a real sense of achievement after each training session however there’s sure to be a few sore legs too!
