The Gold Coast Branch of the Modern Language Teachers’ Association of Queensland (MLTAQ) held their annual Languages Speech Contest at Griffith University on Sunday. Coomera Rivers had eight students take on the challenge to participate in the Chinese section of the competition.
Many would agree that delivering a speech from memory is nerve wracking in itself, but try doing that in another language before two judges who then ask you questions! Our students were well prepared by our LOTE teacher, Mrs Jennifer Huang and stepped into this competition with great confidence and represented our school brilliantly. A very big congratulations to the following students who earned themselves a placing:
Talitha (Year 6) - 2nd Place
Yaena (Year 6) - 3rd Place
Meta (Year 5) - Highly Commended
Congratulations must also go to our students who showed great courage and commitment to their Chinese acquisition.
Year 5 - Georgina, Imogen, Max and Chloe
Year 6 - Isabelle
A very special thank you to Mrs Huang for her excellent preparation and support for this opportunity for our children.
