Nearly 400 students in Years 3 and 5 sat the national tests for literacy and numeracy this week (NAPLAN). They were tested on spelling and grammar, writing, reading and numeracy.
I will not have an indication of the overall or individual results until much later in the year. We will send home the reports to parents once they arrive at school.
I need to acknowledge the wonderful preparation by teachers for this testing regime. It is not at all easy as NAPLAN is a test that cannot be studied for. Students need years of continually high preparation, instruction and improvement to get strong results. Our teachers deserve high praise for this.
I would also like to thank the P&C once again this year for providing snacks and morning tea for the NAPLAN students. They provided our Year 3 and Year 5 students who sat their NAPLAN tests, with some morning tea each day before the tests started to make sure our children were all fuelled up and ready to go!
