After 2 days of wonderful competition, our sports day champion team was decided. This year it was Pedley who took the honours albeit by a very small margin from our other three sports houses.
For the record, the 2018 scores were:
Siganto 1116 3rd
The weather was perfect for the event keeping our oval dry for the firm underfoot. Our sprint and middle distance races were conducted early each day and the children ran their hearts out as they earned points for their respective houses. Before long it was an early lunch and Subway was the order of the day. We really enjoyed the subs after the morning competition. We then moved into our tabloid events which are linked to the more traditional track and field events - but with just a little Coomera Rivers twist. For instance, instead of discus, we prefer gum boots. Our relays involve eggs and spoons rather than the traditional batons. And 2018 saw the introduction of quoits.
Well done the Coomera Rivers families who cheered for their children so passionately and to the teachers who kept the program operating smoothly. No event is without some sort of issue and I am very appreciative of how our staff managed these things as they arose. Great work everyone and congratulations Pedley. We are really looking forward to the 2019 event.
