Our Year 6 students enjoyed a Graduation Dinner and disco with their Year 6 teachers and the exec team at the Southport Sharks on Tuesday night. It was an opportunity to reflect on their final year of primary school and the bizarre circumstances of 2020, and celebrate their upcoming transition to high school. Our two Heads of School, Ruby and Zack, and Head of Student Council, Hannah, all delivered thought-provoking and interesting speeches that had their peers contemplating just how lucky they have been this year and also laughing at the 'uniqueness' of their teachers.
In the Principal's address it was noted that of this cohort of 165 students, 63 of these students completed their entire primary school years at Coomera Rivers. 59 of them walked through the gates as little preppies in 2014, while 3 of them did this earlier in 2013 and one smart man started in 2015. Another interesting fact about this cohort is that there are 7 sets of twins among them. This is astonishing.
After the formalities, students enjoyed their dinner and then danced the night away with DJ Brett. The dance floor was packed and the dance moves were most impressive. It was a fantastic celebration to mark this milestone in their lives.
A very big thank you to our professional photographers from Thomas Hardy Pictures who perfectly captured the students' excitement and fun on the night.
Thank you to Mrs Artz and Mrs McMurtrie for coordinating the Year 6 Graduation Dinner for us. The 'feel' of the room was one of positive collegiality and unity. It was a wonderful event.
