Drama
Drama is great fun and is an important way to build creativity. It is taught to students from Prep to Year 4 in a weekly lesson with a specialist teacher. Students in Year 5–6 have drama integrated into their class programs and also have opportunities to extend their performance skills by auditioning for our biannual school musical.
Prep Drama
Drama in Prep is super fun. Students participate in a variety of games and activities where they take on the characteristics of different animals and characters in stories, culminating with a performance of a scene adapted from 'Wombat Stew' by Marcia Vaughan and Pamela Lofts.
Year 1 Drama
Students explore the area of drama by learning about how drama can represent the world and their ideas about the world. Drama classes provide an opportunity for students to share drama experiences by performing a play based on ‘My Story’ by Nadia Wheatley. Our Year 1 students will also learn to appreciate the performance as an audience member.
Year 4 Drama
Our Year 4 students practice the art of public speaking by speaking in front of a group with a self introduction task. They have fun turning into mannequins and using their body positions to portray occupation roles, mirroring each other and sculpting partners into works of art. We are working towards creating a script and acting as a character from our novel study Rowan of Rin by Emily Rodda.
